Open call for Native Artist: My name is Tracy, and I'm reaching out to you as a member of the Fox Cities Reads team, a non-profit run largely by libraries in the area to get our communities reading and discussing a common book each spring. This spring's book is There There by Tommy Orange! (Shh...the book title is yet to be announced to the general public.) As a part of this spring's community read, I'm hoping to add some educational activities related to indigenous culture in the area. I'd really love to display and feature some indigenous artists at the library. I'm hoping someone at Woodland might be able to connect me with artists who would like to display work. They could, of course, include their website, online, store, or social media information with the display. If interested, please contact: Tracy Haack, Adult Services Librarian Kimberly Public Library [email protected] (920) 788-7515 Native Artist Opportunity:
I am Diana Bolander, the Assistant Director at the Rahr-West Art Museum in Manitowoc, Wisocnsin. We are looking to showcase some regional art at the Rahr-West Art Museum this spring/summer in conjunction with an exhibit we are hosting entitled Stolen Sisters in which national and international indigenous artists and allies address the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women through a variety of media. The idea is to celebrate the work of some local or regional indigenous artists alongside the exhibit. We would like to have a celebration of art and culture so we are not only raising awareness of a serious problem but also celebrate the creativity and shared humanity in our own community. We would be looking to host about 20-30 works (depending on size) in an exhibit that opens April 24 and closes July 31, 2022.
