Introduction to Oneida Pottery
Classes will be taught virtually.

Instructor Bio: Stephenie Muscavitch Van Every is a multimedia artist and Oneida Language and Culture instructor in Oneida, Wisconsin. Pottery, silverwork, quilting, raised beadwork and graphic design are a few of her specialties. Her art often reflects the importance of female energies while blending traditional methods with modern concepts.

Supply Pick-Up:
Students can pick-up their Intro to Pottery supply kits in-person at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center (2040 Airport Dr. Green Bay). Please contact [email protected] to arrange a pick-up time. Further pick-up, pottery firing, and drop-off instruction will be sent via email. Supply kits cannot be mailed for this workshop.
Pottery should be fired on Dec. 8 in order to be returned prior to the holiday.
Description: Students will learn the basic techniques of making Oneida Pottery including hand-building (coil method) and designing using ancient methods such as cording, stamping, and incising. During this two-day workshop, students will learn the introduction to Oneida pottery, history, and design. Students will begin pinch pot base and introduction to coiling while discussing proper storing methods to reduce drying and maintain work ability over time. Students will finish the form of the pot and allow their work to harden slightly while drawing out a design for the shoulder and/or collar. Firing will be provided outside of scheduled workshop hours. We will contact the students when the pot is finished firing is ready for pick-up.
