This pottery was made with high fired clay and is 14" in length. The head signifies the start of life and the tail is the end of life. The four legs indicate the four directions. The 28 small outer sections represent the woman's cycle. The 13 moons are the large images in the center of the shell and down the middle. It starts on the top left center and goes around counter-clockwise to the top and then down the center. The 13 Moons represent: 1. Midwinter or New Year Moon 2. Half days-breaking ear or Big wind moon. 3. Thundering or Maple Sugar Moon 4. Big Thunder Moon 5. Planting Moon 6. Strawberry Moon 7. Green Bean Moon 8. Green Corn Moon 9. Harvest Moon 10. Storing Food Moon 11. They are Hunting or Falling Leaf Moon 12. Big Snow Moon 13. Resting Moon.
